The Advanced Technology & Information Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides scientific, engineering and other experts that work with our customers to solve their hardest problems and advance state-of-the-art technology. Our data solutions professionals deliver enterprise processing, analytics, exploitation and management, as well as information technology hardware that provide actionable information for warfighters and decision makers. In addition, our subject matter experts provide world-class technology and operational insight that help organizations advance the boundaries of knowledge and accomplish their missions.
Engineer I / Engineer II - Modeling & Simulation
Modeling and Simulation at Ball Aerospace in Dayton supports our customers mission by providing system characterization, testing framework for algorithms, and in-depth analysis. M&S is used across most of our projects. As part of these efforts, you will work with industry standard tools like AFSIM, TMAP, ITASE as well as developing bespoke high-fidelity and effects-based models. You will work with a team of other engineers and scientists including algorithm developers, software engineers, system architects, and other simulation engineers.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel aโnd local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

You will work with a team of other engineers and scientists including algorithm developers, software engineers, system architects, and other simulation engineers.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, customize, enhance, and connect physics-based models including Radar, EO/IR signals, sensors, systems, platforms, threats, atmospheric phenomena.
- Develop tools (automation scripts, etc.) and approaches to perform analysis and interpret the results of trade studies.
- Relate sensor characteristics to the performance of automated and manual detection, tracking, classification, and characterization algorithms.
- Assess and characterize the performance of existing, planned, or hypothetical remote sensing systems.
- Design optimal sensor configuration and collection strategies and perform gap analysis.
- Create components for inclusion in a model framework in Matlab/Simulink, Python, C++.
- Ensure the completion of projects.
- Independently determine and develop solutions and approaches.
- Interact with customers and colleagues outside immediate group.
- Provide technical leadership to more junior colleagues.
- Assist in preparing presentations and documents.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, the Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- Engineer I - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Excellent communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER I: $91,500 - $114,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER II: $111,000 - $137,500
- (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
