The Platform Extensions team’s goal is to provide merchants with e-comm platform extensions that create a seamless onboarding experience and provide real-time, accurate decisioning.

The team is responsible for ensuring that merchants who use e-comm platforms, and especially their developer teams, can get up and running using our services as quickly and as easily as possible. We do this by providing them with eCommerce-platform extensions, and we strive to make the merchant developer experience a pleasant one. In order to provide real-time, accurate decisioning that our customers rely on, the team must ensure that its high-throughput systems that process events from these platforms are robust and built to scale.

Your work will focus on managing the Platform Extensions team. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with teams across Forter to create the best onboarding experience possible and to provide merchants with accurate, real time decisions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Build and maintain our third-party e-commerce platform extensions. Learn the platform ecosystems and how to integrate with them, become knowledgeable in extension architectures and how they connect to Forter, understand the different extension features and how they fit into the various Forter flows, and how they provide value to our merchants.
• Recruit, develop, lead by example, and mentor a sometimes-remote team of talented engineers based locally.
• Inspire and motivate the team members to achieve career growth goals you set together. 
• Be a key part of the ‘technical offering think-tank’, working with Forter’s product organization, innovations lab and key business stakeholders to ensure we build superb products that will be easy to integrate by our customers, and sustainable to operate and support as we keep growing.
• Own and optimize the team’s quarterly plan based on long-term plans, well-groomed backlogs, and immediate operational needs.
• Interact directly with merchant engineering and operations teams, security experts, and managers on all levels as a Product Owner for our extensions, and to receive feedback and groom backlogs accordingly.

• Delivery-oriented, with zero-blunder mentality and attention to details.
• 5+ years of industry experience from a software engineering role.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager or equivalent.
• Experience with the complete web-services development stack, e.g.: Node.js, TypeScript, Python,  HTTP, security, and ideally Java and PHP.
• Familiar with e-commerce platforms, processes, and common issues associated with API based integrations
• Experience with high-throughput, fault-tolerant event-driven microservices architecture
• Experience with an event-based stack such as Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ
• Experience with distributed, cloud-based systems
• Excellent troubleshooting skills in heterogeneous production environments.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels to work cross organizationally toward solutions; excellent leadership and consensus-building skills.
• Comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base

Preferred Qualifications

• A track record of building and leading world-class technology product engineering teams ideally from an infrastructure, platform, or SaaS company.
• Past experience as a developers-advocate role, or as an individual contributor in an APIs team. 
• Built modules for e-commerce platforms (e.g. Magento, Demandware).
• Experience working with or building online payment interfaces.
