Engineering Manager - Data Platform

The Data team leverages data from our autonomous vehicles and operations to determine autonomy and service readiness. We provide the foundation for strategic decision-making at Zoox. You will develop and implement the next generation of our data pipeline to ensure visibility into our business as we scale toward the launch of an autonomous mobility service. You will define the system and build the pipeline to enable Zoox to develop and scale with a data-first culture.

You will join a diverse, experienced team with rapidly growing scope and responsibility while also having access to one of the most unique data sets in the autonomous vehicle industry. Hence, we are seeking all skill levels to grow with the team.

In this role, you will:

• Coach, mentor and grow the data platform team
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, cross functional teams and stakeholders to support their data needsHelp develop the long term roadmap and vision of our data infrastructure to meet future needs
• Ensure efficiency and reliability of our large scale data processing infrastructure
• Optimize and grow data infrastructure to meet increasing demand for data driven use cases

Qualifications

• Experience managing and growing high performing teams of 5+ members
• Hands-on technical leadership in designing and building highly scalable cloud data infrastructure systems for batch and/or stream processing
• Familiarity in Python/Java/C++, SQL
• Experience using modern compute, data infrastructure and visualization tools, and services such as Kafka, Airflow, AWS S3, AWS EC2, DBT, Kubernetes, Terraform, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Looker
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to work cross functionally with product managers, data scientists, ML engineers, and various stakeholdersProven track record of delivering impactful projects through collaboration across teams and organization

Bonus Qualifications

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum based development
• Familiarity with ML infrastructure
• Experience in Autonomous Vehicle domain

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary will range from $239,000 to $300,000. A sign-on bonus may be part of a compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
