About the Role

This role is on the Courier Pricing team within the Marketplace organization. As an Engineering Manager on the Courier Pricing team, you will interact with a wide range of data and analytic events to build a best-in-class pricing system to efficiently price each offer made to Uber delivery partners. This work is continuing to define the courier niche in the global delivery marketplace.

We research new models and algorithms and build platforms to serve our insights to customers at Uber scale. You will be working with world-class talent and surrounded by some of the world's most experienced engineering professionals, data scientists, and research scientists on user-facing products with global impact. Responsibilites:

- This covers everything that happens with courier pricing from a courier receiving a dispatch until the courier delivers the order

- The team's mission is to build a best-in-class pricing system to efficiently price each offer made to Uber delivery partners

- Some key areas the team owns include pricing algorithm/model, budget, simulation system, etc

- Lead a team of dedicated software engineers to deliver best in class pricing system

- Work with stakeholders and multi-functional teams to lead planning and execution through a full product cycle

- Partner with engineering teams, help see opportunities, gather requirements, and help shape the technology roadmap and vision for the team

- Lean on technical experience to facilitate technical decision-making and raise the bar on the team's engineering craft

- Hire high-quality engineering talent, lead and develop your team

- Develop an operational model to achieve operational excellence for engineering and product metrics

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 3+ years full-time Software Engineering work experience prior to Engineering Management experience AND 1 + years full-time Engineering Management work experience

- A solid background in shepherding the design and implementation of robust, high-scale systems and challenging engineers to develop extensible and reusable solutions.

- Experience partnering across functions and organizational boundaries to effectively advocate for team, business, and company priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 8+ years of proven experience in software engineering

- 3+ years of direct people management experience, including growing and mentoring engineers at different levels

- A strong business sense and ability to challenge and partner with product managers and business stakeholders.

- Experience executing against high-stakes business goals and extensive engineering priorities.

- A track record of delivering results in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.

- Excellent communication and analytical ability to understand the business value of engineering decisions and articulate a narrative about their importance.

- Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, and complex backend and optimization systems.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
