What does an Engineering Manager do at PeopleGrove?

As a manager on the engineering team, you’ll focus on developing the excellent engineering team around you and collaborating with our business stakeholders. You enjoy the challenge of balancing speed of execution with quality while building scalable solutions to support our PeopleGrove's growing business needs.

What you’ll achieve

• Manage a team of 4-8 engineers
• Working with the product team to develop new features focused on improving the user experience
• Improving existing features and working on streamlining client implementations through improved tools
• Coach engineers in their technical and professional development
• Individually contribute with code for getting things to finish line
• Work closely with recruiting to grow the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new employees

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building consumer-facing web apps
• 1+ year of managing a team
• Have strong background in delivering application on time.
• Strong technical competence with a track record of individual technical accomplishments
• Self starter with deep interest in tech - we want someone who will come in with opinions, and shape our engineering practices and decisions for the better
• An eye for design - you'll have an important role in making the product look great
• Believe in our mission and love the idea of working in education to help students succeed
• Prior experience of microservice architecture is a plus but not mandatory

• NodeJS, Express, Sails.JS
• React.js, Redux, Redux-Saga
• GKE, Google PubSub, CloudFunction, CloudSQL, MemoryStore
• ElasticSearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, MongoDB
• Whatever else you decide - we're constantly re-evaluating our stack and tools
• Having a prior experience with the technologies is a plus, but not mandatory for skilled candidates.
