The Environmental Specialist is a primary compliance and environmental management system contact for our manufacturing and distribution network. Ensures compliance with company standards and environmental regulations (stormwater, wastewater, aboveground storage tank, hazardous and universal waste, oil spill prevention, etc.). Manages our Environmental Management System which includes maintaining company policies, plans, & procedures. Collaborates with on-site personnel to support internal and external audits, waste management, & compliance reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit compliance reports (annual Tier II, annual recycling reports, quarterly monitoring reports, monthly sustainability data reporting, and permit renewal support.)
  • Implement and maintain environmental management systems and conduct environmental record reviews.
  • Conduct site audits for company-owned locations, third party waste disposal vendors, and document site visits in a standard report format.
  • Provide production facilities with corporate support for monthly external audits and internal audits.
  • Collect, enter, maintain, and analyze data related to energy, water, and waste using the third-party sustainability information management system.
  • Support maintenance of company's internal Sustainability website portal
  • Support company with waste management services (hazardous/universal wastes)
  • Administrative Support: issue payments for permit fees, invoices, purchase orders (PO's), etc.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and determine trends through multiple data sources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to create pivot tables, graphs, extraction and manipulation of data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Environmental Engineering, or Science)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of work experience

Work Environment

  • Office environment
  • Travel 3 - 5 days per month
