Job Title: Executive Chef
We are looking for an Executive Chef who is ready to bring their vision to one of Austin's most unique culinary projects: the dual operation of side-by-side, award-winning kitchens at Better Half and Hold Out Brewing.
Run by one management team, these two restaurants thrive at the intersection of great food, coffee, cocktails, and our brewery's beer. We are seeking a talented, professional leader who manages large collaborative culinary teams with positivity and creativity.
This role will drive new menu direction at both locations while taking pride in executing on our signature dishes that have established us as a comforting favorite in Austin's culinary scene. As Executive Chef, you will work alongside company owners and in collaboration with brewers, bakers, baristas, bartenders, artists, musicians, farmers, and nonprofits to make great things happen.

About us:
Opening in February of 2018, Better Half quickly found a place as a cornerstone in the Austin food & beverage scene, with a dedication to quality and service that is matched only by the enthusiasm and loyalty of our customers. After an array of hurdles, and at the start of a global pandemic, Hold Out Brewing opened its doors in May of 2020. Through the grit & perseverance of our dedicated team, the restaurants were able to emerge relatively unscathed to welcome guests back into our spaces. Each and every day we take pride in the strength of our team and the safe spaces they work in, the high quality of our products, and the environment we've created for our customers. We are serious about quality and hospitality, but we know that those two things don t require starched uniforms and corporate culture.
Core Responsibilities:
• Culinary Vision
• Manage food costs
• Manage kitchen labor budgets
• Hire, train and mentor kitchen staff
• Foster a positive work environment and maintain the good, existing FOH/BOH dynamic that is currently in place
• Embrace and promote a culture of continuous learning and growth
Requirements:
• Executive/Head Chef Experience is strongly preferred
• Be a leader
• Be a strong communicator
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
• Be capable of adapting existing systems or creating new systems to meet all ordering and costing needs
• Be an effective delegator capable of maintaining work/life balance while meeting the needs of the business
