Job Description
Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions | Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
60% - Responsible for editorial content of all home, garden, and holiday special interest magazines across multiple brands and partnerships, both internal and external. Supervise related editorial staff and freelancers in production of high quality magazines with content that is engaging, relevant, and on-brand. Personally edit/produce specific issues as needed. Ensure the magazines are completed according to the budget, schedule, and quality established by the Editor in Chief. Manage or delegate Country Home's Instagram.
30% - Work with Editor in Chief, art directors, and Newsstand staff to strategize PP portfolio and profitability. Develop new magazine ideas and ensure that home, garden, and holiday covers follow best practices for maximum sell-through.
10% - Attend trade shows, assist with client/partner relationships, and communicate with marketing and sales as needed. Share planning documents/collaborate with digital editors on related brands.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
B.A. degree or four years of journalism or communications school training or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
8 years of editorial experience in magazine or associated fields. Minimum of three years of management experience.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of writing, editing, copy fitting, and production. Solid understanding of decorating, home design, and garden fundamentals. Good management skills. Works well with people; ability to articulate goals and responsibilities. Fluent with publishing software. Familiarity with web content creation and editing processes; familiarity with social media best practices and video shooting practices.
% Travel Required (Approximate) : 5%

Job Description
Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
- Responsible for editorial content of all home, garden, and holiday special interest magazines, either directly or indirectly, to ensure content is engaging, relevant, and on-brand. Responsible for mentoring and managing editorial staff in development and production of high-quality editorial content appropriate to the title and audience.
- Direct and supervise freelance writers and editors to produce issues. Work with staff and freelancers to select all locations, plan photography, select or assign freelancers, and move stories/layouts through the production process. As needed, directly produce issues.
- Monitor newsstand trends and work with editors, designers, Editor in Chief, and Newsstand staff to develop best cover practices for each title, including creation of engaging, consumer-focused sell lines that enhance newsstand presence and build sell-through. Work with staff to find and test a variety of cover approaches.
- Contribute to the financial success of PP by ensuring that all issues are on time, on budget, and without error.
- Work with the marketing and sales teams to provide issue descriptions, outlines, and answer content questions.
