Experienced House Chef – Residential Treatment Facility

Location:Houston, TX Job Type:Full-Time Schedule:Monday–Saturday (Sundays Off) Pay:$35–$45 per hour (Depending on Experience) We’re seeking a reliable, experienced House Chef to join our residential treatment team. This role is responsible for preparing daily meals for both clients and staff in a home-style environment supporting individuals in early recovery from substance use and mental health conditions. We’re looking for someone who is consistent, professional, and understands how food can support comfort, healing, and routine in a clinical setting. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and serve three meals per day (plus snacks) for clients and staff, Monday through Saturday. • Plan or follow rotating menus that are nutritious, well-balanced, and budget-conscious. • Grocery shop, manage food inventory, and monitor expiration dates. • Accommodate dietary restrictions and client-specific needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic, etc.). • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully health-compliant kitchen. • Coordinate meal times with clinical team schedules. • Remain professional and focused, even during emotionally intense or unpredictable situations. Required Qualifications: • Previous experience as a chef or cook is required(residential, healthcare, or behavioral health setting preferred). • ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain). • Must pass a background check • Ability to work independently and stay organized under pressure. • Strong understanding of food safety, basic nutrition, and special diets. • Compassionate, discreet, and respectful of client confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a detox, inpatient, or behavioral health environment. • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles.
