The Position

Headfirst Summer Camp Extended Day (PMX) Counselors will act as the bridge between camper experience, families, and our aftercare partner. This individual is a capable communicator and problem-solver, who is willing to be flexible in their responsibilities as needed.

Camper ages: 3-12 years old

Activities include: Escorting campers from their aftercare location to carpool location and into their pick-up vehicle, tending to all Headfirst Carpool policies as directed by the Extended Day Coordinator.

  • In-season (late June through mid August): 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm Monday – Friday
  • Pre-season (early June): select weekends for training and site preparation

Compensation: $17 / hour

What You'll Do

  • End the Day Strong
    • Be an active part of the end-of-day customer service team, problem solving, and relationship building with families 
    • Assist camper check-out and dismissal processes, authorized driver identification checks, and operational clean-up when all campers have departed
    • Collaborate to foster an efficient and safe afternoon carpool, welcoming families to camp by name with top notch Headfirst-level energy and coordinated carpool procedures for up to 100 campers each afternoon
    • Work as a team with the Extended Day Coordinator, acting as the main point of contact for any on-site escalated cases
    • Implement Headfirst’s safety protocols on supervision, bathrooms, emergency medications, and camper behavior management
  • Keep Physical, Social & Emotional Safety a Priority
    • Be knowledgeable about Headfirst emotional, physical, and social safety procedures and how they are implemented after the camp day
  • Represent Headfirst for Families & Facility Partners
    • Represent the Headfirst brand daily to families at carpool and to school facility partners throughout the summer by being enthusiastic, hands-on, helpful, and in uniform
    • Actively participate in our efforts to take care of our camp facility and community
  • Be an Active Member of the Camp Team
    • Arrive on time, communicate schedule changes promptly, be a loyal and consistent team member who shows up for the campers and your team
    • Work directly alongside the on-site team to create the best experience possible for all campers
    • Adhere to the Headfirst Cell-Phone free policy, powering down and putting cell phones in Yondr pouch for the duration of shift.
  • Handle the Curveballs
    • Practice resiliency and arrive with a “How Can I Help?” mentality that puts camper experience and team success at the forefront through problem solving and trying new things

About You

 

  • Must be able to:
    • Work around small children including, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs for the full day.
    • Work in hot and outdoor environments while actively supervising campers and participating in dynamic activities for extended periods of time. 
    • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
