External Communications Manager

Do you want to use your creativity to help make a lasting impact on the lives of homeless children and their families? Vogel is seeking an External Communications Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in supporting our communications, fundraising, and event efforts, all while contributing to the mission of our nonprofit organization. If you have a strong eye for design, experience managing social media platforms, and a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you! This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $23.08 - $25.60 per hour, depending on experience. What we do Vogel is a well-established nonprofit organization located in Dallas with a history spanning over 36 years. Our core mission is centered around providing exceptional care and early childhood education for young children from homeless and domestic abuse shelters, all within our NAEYC accredited child care facility. Our innovative approach works to support both children and their parents through a two-generation strategy, offering resources that set families on a path toward a brighter future. What You’ll Do • Graphic Design & Print Production: Design and produce high-quality print and digital materials such as brochures, flyers, invitations, and promotional items, ensuring alignment with Vogel’s branding and messaging standards. • Social Media Management: Create, schedule, and post engaging content across multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter), fostering relationships with our community and increasing engagement. • Donor Communications: Draft and send communications to donors, including e-newsletters, updates, and appeals. Help tell the stories that showcase the impact of Vogel’s work and inspire continued support. • Website Management: Make updates to the website, adding new events, news, and announcements to keep our supporters informed. • Event Support: Assist in creating print materials for fundraising events, including signage, programs, and thank-you cards, to ensure seamless event experiences. • Administrative Support: Assist the Development team with donor records, donor research, and report preparation. Help manage the donor database, with Salesforce experience being a plus. What Will Make You Successful in This Role (Skills) • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva). • Strong understanding of social media platforms and tools. • Basic experience with website management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar). • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong attention to detail and editing skills. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. • Experience with Salesforce or similar donor management platforms is a plus.
