Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION - DALLAS TRAILER REPAIR CO. Fabricator / Welder Job Summary This position is responsible for fabrication and welding on all trailers and related equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a solid knowledge of welding, fabrication, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be able to work independently or as a team member. Responsibilities • Able to read blueprints for specific jobs • Using Mig, Tig and Arc welding • Utilizing plasma cutter • Using Accurshear to shear raw metal to specifications • Using Accupress to bend raw metal to specifications • Able to assemble raw metal materials to specifications • Perform requested repairs according to industry standard • Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace, including regularly cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment. • Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices. • Ability to work independently, as well as support coworkers, able to work as part of team and work well with co-workers. • Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge-Based Requirements • Welding & torching (Metal, Aluminum and Stainless Steel) • General carpentry skills • Must be able to read and write in English, as required for documentation of diagnosis and solutions. • Must have own tools plus Safety Glasses, Steel-toed shoes, and Hearing Protection. • Able to pass 10-year background check. • Able to pass drug test/medical physical exam Physical Demands/Abilities performed throughout the duration of the work shift. • Heavy Work- Exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs of force frequently or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including other job-related items. • Walking/Standing for sustained periods of time. • Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using entire body • Stooping/Crouching – Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs, and spine. • Balancing – Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling. • Kneeling/Crawling – Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s) or moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. • Whole Hand/Fingers – Picking, pinching, typing with fingers and grasping with the fingers and palm. • Repetitive Motion – Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. • Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary. • Hearing – Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction. • Vision – Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, using measurement devices, viewing electronic devices, assembling, inspecting small parts and/or operating machines and power tools, operate a motor vehicle and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed. Work Environment: Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.) This is not an all-inclusive list of every job duty affiliated with theFABRICATOR / WELDERposition and Dallas Trailer Repair Co reserves the right to assign additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.
