What started in 2010 while owner/designer Melissa Hinnant was on bed rest during pregnancy has grown to become a multi-million online retail store -- and we are still growing!
Grace and Lace specializes in women’s apparel that is classically feminine and romantic, yet still on trend with today’s modern style. With all of our success, Grace and Lace is on a mission to change the world and has helped save hundreds of children in India by building orphanages with plans to open many more in the coming years.

Melissa and the Grace and Lace Design Team are looking for world-changing design talent to join the team and help grow our successful, award-winning catalog of women’s apparel and accessories.

If you are an experienced and productive apparel designer who loves to move at a fast pace and has a passion for developing innovative concepts then we have a perfect position for you at Grace and Lace!

Daily Tasks: 

  • Create development packs, color cards, mood boards, simple prints and Cad sketches
  • Conduct daily design and prototype reviews with design team and revise accordingly
  • Create and distribute tech packs as needed
  • Keep all design development archives organized
  • Constantly researching new innovations, emerging trends, key bodies in the industry
  • Combine seasonal trends with brand guidelines to create new designs
  • Liaise with Marketing, Production, and Merchandising teams to ensure product assortment and production goals are met
  • Comment on daily received lab dips, knit-downs, strike-offs, and new prototypes in timely fashion to uphold development timeline
  • Follow up with overseas vendors on new developments, fit samples, photo samples and exit factory dates

Responsibilities: 

  • Help build and manage our product roadmap
  • Comment on proto's, approve and maintain a consistent and correct fit on all garments
  • Comment on lab dips and strike offs
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with factories & agents
  • Responsible for product design process to include market research, mood board, designing, sketching, spec’ing and fit
  • Communicate with overseas and domestic factories on a daily basis
  • Facilitate communication and coordination throughout all aspects of the product design lifecycle
  • Implement processes that help us exceed customer expectations and readily react to their needs and desires
  • Collaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process
  • Build and maintain collaborative and effective relationships

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
  • Minimum 3-5 years of fashion design experience
  • Thorough understanding of current trends, tech packs, and fit guidelines
  • Demonstrated communication skills, with extensive experience dealing with overseas vendors
  • Flexible Team Player, with the ability to collaborate with multiple people to get the job done
  • Able to multitask and work on many different projects at once, keeping track of deadlines and balancing team workload as needed
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong work ethic
  • Positive, hard-working, can-do attitude
  • Proficient in Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Background in contemporary womenswear strongly preferred
