Field Supervisor - Temporary Fence

Job Summary The Field Supervisor will represent Smith Fence Company while supervising our crews and installations. The Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day operations and activities that occur in the field. They ensure that projects are completed timely, efficiently, within budget, safely, and in accordance with company policies and industry standards. This role serves as a critical link between field operations, project management, and customers. Field Supervisors are often in charge of a team of field workers and are accountable for their team's performance, safety and the successful execution of projects. Key Responsibilities • Supervise fence installation crews (2–5 team members per crew) on commercial job sites. • Conduct daily job briefings and ensure compliance with safety standards and OSHA regulations. • Read and interpret project blueprints, layout plans, and site surveys. • Manage material usage and inventory on job sites. • Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and vehicles; perform basic inspections and maintenance. • Serve as the main on-site point of contact for clients and subcontractors; address issues promptly. • Monitor project progress, quality, and job site cleanliness. • Train new team members and ensure adherence to installation best practices. • Document job completion, report delays, and escalate issues to the operations team. • Support recruitment and performance evaluations as needed. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or construction-related coursework a plus. • 5+ years of fencing or construction experience, including leadership or supervisory roles. • Knowledge of various fencing systems (e.g., wood, vinyl, chain link, aluminum, commercial security fencing). • Ability to read blueprints, use measuring tools, and understand property lines/easements. • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus). • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment: • Outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions. • Requires physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. • Operate power tools, post drivers, augers, skid steers, and similar equipment. • Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with employees, drivers, and vendors.
