About the Job
CNA Is seeking an experienced Financial Analysis Manager to join the Corporate Functions FP&A Team. The Corporate Functions FP&A team primarily partners with leaders in the Claims, Law, Finance, Human Resource, and Actuarial departments to deliver deeper insights in to optimizing expense investments and driving core financial processes and annual planning. Additionally this role will implement operational process improvements and efficiencies, build out new analytical resources, and lead special projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Your Day to Day
- Manage Corporate Functions FP&A expense team, overseeing execution of forecasting, analysis, reporting, and allocations
- Serve as a key business partner to various stakeholders to deliver timely analytical reports and assist with measurement of operational efficiency of monthly, quarterly, and annual results
- Report progress toward overall departmental & organizational financial goals, requiring a thorough understanding of planned, forecasted and actual results
- Independently extract or summarize key insights, clearly and concisely communicate insights with actionable recommendations to senior leadership
- Partner with Corporate Accounting team to facilitate month end accruals process, managing the collation of accruals
- Manage multiple constituents and requests to build relationships and deliver maximum value to the organization
- Influence decision-makers through effective verbal and written communication
- Leverage financial expertise to recognize and resolve emerging issues, independently investigate anomalies and variances in data
- Utilize creative problem solving to tackle unique challenges and be able to defend your approach with FP&A leadership and business partners
- Drive process improvement and automation of cyclical processes: e.g. forecasting, planning, close facilitation
- Lead special projects with a minimum of direction
- Coach, lead and develop less experienced team members while fostering a positive, open team environment
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced modeling skills including advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work with senior business partners with aggressive deadlines
- Strong knowledge of corporate and departmental finance practices, procedures and principles
- Track record of delivering results with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience with the following or similar tools/systems: Alteryx, Workday, Adaptive Insights
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of GAAP, statutory and other complex accounting principles, practices and procedures which may include technical expertise in a functional area
- Knowledge of corporate and departmental accounting practices, procedures and principles as well as knowledge of an insurance organization and industry
- Experience with the following or similar tools/systems: Tableau, Thoughtspot & Looker a plus
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or business, or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
- 5 to 8 years of finance experience or a related analytical field with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
