Job Description

Catalent Pharma in San Diego, CA is hiring a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records and providing on-site financial support to the site General Manager, Finance Director, and the operational leaders for the business. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will create budgets, monthly forecasts, and close the books for actuals. Furthermore, the role will involve analyzing the data for trends, issues and opportunities and creating action-oriented reporting to assist Operations in understanding business results and trends. The Financial Analyst role is critical to our patients. In concert with Catalent's Patient First philosophy, this position is key in our efforts toward continuous improvement of our processes & information which will allow quality drug products to reach patients safely and efficiently.

This is a full-time position: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm with flexibility and part-time remote/work-from-home.

The Role

  • Lead monthly accounting, forecast & reporting processes to ensure that Corporate, Business Unit, and Site timelines and objectives are met
  • Prepare Management presentation material for monthly forecast, operations meetings, and QBRs (Quarterly Business Review)
  • Perform monthly variance review of P&L (profit and loss) as well as analysis at a BU (business unit) level
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and present financial reporting and analysis in an accurate and timely manner to Site and Functional leaders
  • Provide cost and variance analysis that is useful and actionable to the senior leadership team in their decision-making processes
  • Contribute to weekly Revenue Forecast process with Business Units
  • Lead annual Site and Functional Budget process including development/analysis of budget targets, developing, communicating and driving the budget timeline, creating budget templates, creating/maintaining budget roll-up files, preparing budget deliverables for Site Management and BU Leadership Team
  • Assist the General Manager and the Finance Director in establishing metrics, performing budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial/operational analysis related to fixed asset purchases, base cost management, working capital management, headcount control, and operational performance
  • Support internal and external audit reviews, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA (Masters in Business Administration) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is a plus. High school diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant financial analyst/accounting experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in the Finance/Accounting field required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels of management and with all levels of finance expertise required. Must have ability to collaborate across the organization on business and operational processes.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial systems preferred.
  • Experience with one or multiple financial software systems (JD Edwards), Oracle HFM, Changepoint, pivot tables and large databases required.
  • Physical requirements: Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds; ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Regular use of telephone and email. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and fax machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.

Pay:

  • The annual pay range for this position in California is $85,000 - $95,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
