Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our small, family-owned textile businesses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, including account reconciliation, financial analysis, and compliance with relevant regulations, in addition to managing human resources and administering company 401 (k) deferral and 401 (k) employer contribution plans. Duties • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards. • Manage account reconciliation processes to ensure all accounts are accurate and up to date. • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to maintain efficient cash flow management. • Conduct thorough account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. • Participate in ERP upgrades to enhance and streamline accounting processes. • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations and reporting requirements. • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support decision-making. • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for senior management review. • Lead the accounting team in maintaining double-entry bookkeeping practices. • Handle on-boarding process with personnel and the payroll function utilizing our third-party payroll service. • Manage and provide periodic analysis of the balance sheet and profit and loss accounts. • Review annual casualty and health insurance renewals with agent, approve with management. • Coordinate with our third-party accounting firm during the calendar year and yearend tax planning. Experience • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Financial Manager. Wholesale/Distributor financial experience is helpful. • Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, account analysis, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes required. • Familiarity with IFRS standards and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles required. • Experience with domestic sales tax compliance and filings is a plus, including familiarity with Avalara software. • Proficiency in financial software applications, particularly proprietary platforms. • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. • A degree in Accounting or Finance required; relevant certifications including CPA or CMA are a plus.
