Job Description
Responsible for managing the Financial Reporting team, including oversight and review of the monthly consolidation process and the quarterly financial statements. Monitor and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and impact on Lockton's accounting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily activities of the Financial Reporting team.
- Manage the monthly US and global consolidation process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.
- Review and analysis of the quarterly and annual consolidated GAAP financial statements.
- Review and analysis of the monthly consolidated internal management financial statements.
- Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner.
- Communicate and explain accounting matters and evolving accounting guidance to the management team.
- Coordinate the Company's annual audit with the independent auditors.
- Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting matters to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
- Create, implement and maintain comprehensive worldwide accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency.
- Provide management and oversight of the companies deferred compensation accounting process, including ensuring compliance with individual deferred compensation agreements.
- Participate in professional and personal development programs and provide direction and development for the Financial Reporting team members.
- Evaluate current accounting processes and implement new accounting procedures and improvements as necessary to support efficiency and scalability.
- Additional duties as assigned, including ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Requirements:
- BA / BS in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA / MBA preferred.
- 5+ years public accounting experience; mix of public and private accounting experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through complexity.
- Ability to convey a professional and positive image and attitude and foster a team-based environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people in financial and non-financial roles.
