Job Description

MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL-MUST BE A U.S CITIZEN-MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE PRIMARY FUNCTION: Orchestrate, perform and support the complex activities involved in the finishing operations and processes required to accomplish multi-task, labor-intensive work assignments through intricate and detailed planning and work instructions for large, oversized and multi-component systems that is required for delivery to Test and external customers. Set up and operate bonding, painting, engraving, plating and silk-screening equipment to perform finishing operations on component parts, assemblies, printed circuit boards, chassis and the like. Assist in the development of spray painting and bonding techniques and make layouts, develop and make frames and screens for silk screens. Perform necessary operations to produce test panels and coupons for verifying and adjusting machines and process. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Various tools and equipment used in the rapid prototype, painting, plating, bonding and finishing processes including but not limited to; Rigging equipment, scaffolding, ladders, measuring devices, in addition to regular finishing tools and equipment. Respirator certification is required as well as other safety equipment as deemed necessary. MATERIAL: Components, assemblies, paints, epoxies, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, etc. DIRECTION OF OTHERS: Lead training effort to equal or lower classified finishing personnel to ensure continuity and transfer of knowledge and skills. WORKING PROCEDURE: The following are the usual major duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment. 1. Obtain all necessary information to perform job assignments, resolve and report any discrepancies to feeder/engineering personnel. 2. Without direct supervision, perform all operations to bond, seal, and laminate parts, coordinating the various processes as required. Perform rework operations on complex parts, including necessary test coupons to qualify the process. 3. Perform random tests on bonding and lamination processes and work with feeder/engineering personnel to develop new processes and the sequence of operations. 4. Independently, perform tests on plating and treating solutions such as determining ph and/or specific gravity per schedule and test specification and record results. Ensure that the specified additions of chemicals to plating and/or treating solutions are made. Develop required fixtures for plating processes. 5. Monitor, analyze and adjust automated plating processes using data entry equipment such as CRT terminal and/or local controller. 6. Interpret silkscreen requirements from drawings and apply markings. Request artwork for new silkscreens. Print artwork, if necessary, build new silkscreens or rework old silkscreens per engineering changes. 7. Extract part dimensions from engineering models to fully understand required tasks. 8. Bond foam by roll coating or spraying as required. Perform necessary processes to obtain good test coupons or panels for verifying and adjusting machine operations. 9. Copy files from workstation to build station and SLA, or equivalent processes. Preview build for errors. Start build and monitor progress. 10. Remove parts from the SLA and clean as appropriate using a specified process. Remove parts from platform using a variety of knives and then carefully remove support structure from part without damaging the part itself. Place part in PCA for specified amount of time to finish curing. 11. Hand sand rapid prototype epoxy parts to +/- .005" tolerance using various grit sandpaper. Critical finishing relies on the individual to identify markings left by the build process and to finish to these markings. The individual is expected to be able to develop, modify or create manufacturing aids to sand specific unique parts. NON-EXEMPT HOURLy rosmoN DESCRIPTION 12. Using hand-held, high intensity UV light source, fix parts that were broken, fill holes for quick cast build style, bond parts together and use in critical situations on the SLA to cure resin in the vat to save builds that developed problems while building. 13. Responsible for the set up and tear down of all Metal Powder bed fusion machines and supporting equipment of the additive manufacturing process. This includes but is not limited to; Inspecting the Recoater Blade, Removing and Replacing the Recoater Blade, Installing Build Plate, Levelling Build plate, and Inspecting and Cleaning F- Theta Lens Window. a. Handling of fine metal powders including the loading and unloading of powder into Metal Powder bed fusion machine. b. Perform day-to-day maintenance of machine and support equipment in support of the additive manufacturing process. 14. Evaluate, perform and direct operations for repairing dents, surface damage and imperfections. Prepare parts for painting using established cleaning procedures and/or recommend/develop new techniques/methods that are determined to be effective. Perform minor mechanical assemble functions as required, i.e. repair/replace hardware, rivets and/or parts. 15. Spray paint and touch up casting, fabrications and assemblies having difficult contours and irregular shapes, mixing and thinning paints to match colors. Improvise when masking requirements do not conform to standard masking procedures. Vary application techniques according to material, size, accessibility and shape of items. Dry paint or bake in oven. Check painted items to assure quality and conformance to specifications. Repaint or touch up items as required. 16. Assists in the development of processes of finishing applications on new assemblies and modifications to feeder/engineering personnel. 17. Work closely with other personnel and attend company-sponsored training courses to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills for career path development. 18. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: High School graduate or recognized equivalent.
