Overview We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently within designated routes. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage delivery schedules effectively. Duties • Operate various types of commercial vehicles, including trucks and tractor-trailers, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations. • Perform route driving to deliver goods to customers in a timely manner. • Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured for transport. • Utilize forklifts and other equipment as necessary for loading and unloading tasks. • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that may occur during transport. • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and operational efficiency. • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Experience • Proven experience in commercial driving, with a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type. • Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles is preferred. • Experience operating refrigerated trailers or tankers is a plus. • Previous work in route driving or as a delivery driver is advantageous. • Ability to handle loading and unloading tasks efficiently, demonstrating physical capability to lift heavy items when necessary.
