Located in Birmingham, AL, the Dotdash Meredith Food Studios is a state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill/BBQ station, and an expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals, stylists, and photographers, the Dotdash Meredith Food Studios is the country's premier creative hub, producing thousands of world-class recipes, images, and related content annually for Dotdash Meredith's print, digital, and social platforms.
The Food Stylist provides food styling services for photography projects for Dotdash-Meredith brands. This position is responsible for preparing the recipes and styling the content within the specific parameters outlined by art and editorial teams. The Food Stylist will work closely with photographers, photo stylists, designers, and editors to achieve and uphold the aesthetic goals of each project.
Essential Job Functions | Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
10% - Collaborate with the team and brand client in advance of shoots in pre-pro calls or meetings to discuss creative solutions and ensure all parties are clear on shoot expectations
15% - Create and monitor grocery/shopping lists to ensure the proper items are purchased for all photo shoots, anticipating the need to order specialty or hard-to-find items to ensure arrival for photoshoot
35% - Organize workflow , including necessary pre-prep, to ensure food is ready to go on set in a timely manner
35% - Prepare recipes for photography as part of a dynamic, creative team that supports multiple brands and aesthetics
5% - Share best practices with your fellow stylists and stay on top of styling trends.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
You have a B.A. in photography/design with food-related experience or B.S. in a food-related field
Experience:
3-5 years' professional food styling experience for lifestyle brands
