Founding Full Stack Engineer

Permanent Job title:Founding Full-Stack Engineer Our client:A repeat-founder consumer social + health startup. The product connects people around shared health goals, powered by a wearable and a real-time social experience. We are hiring a seasoned, staff-level full-stack engineer to own the backend and infrastructure, with light mobile touchpoints. Principal tasks and responsibilities include: • Own core APIs and services end to end, from design to production. • Build low-latency features users can feel in the app, such as feeds, notifications, and live activity views. • Design secure data pipelines and storage across batch and streaming. • Set reliability bars and SLOs, instrument services, and drive on-call readiness. • Stand up cloud infrastructure on AWS, including container orchestration, networking, and CI/CD. • Lead observability, incident response, rollouts, and post-incident learning. • Collaborate with iOS to shape interfaces and mobile data flows. • Partner with design and product on experiments, analytics, and A/B tests. • Document decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to hiring. Qualifications and pre-requisites: • Staff-level impact in production systems, ideally 7+ years. • Strong in one or more: Node.js, Go, or Python. • Datastores and queues: Postgres, Redis, and a streaming system such as Kafka or Pub/Sub. • AWS experience across VPC, ECS or EKS, Lambda, load balancers, and IAM. • Infrastructure as code and CI/CD, such as Terraform and GitHub Actions. • Proven work on performance, p90 or p99 latency, and error budgets. • Product instincts for consumer experiences and experimentation. • Nice to have: regulated data exposure, security and privacy best practices, basic familiarity with React Native or iOS client needs. • Degree in CS or equivalent experience.
