FP - Registered Nurse

Company Overview Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and CT scan radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs. TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties. Purpose: The Staff Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide care to patients undergoing medical procedures. The Staff Nurse will adhere to the standards of care and practice and act as a resource to the float-pool team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Floats to Pre-op, PACU, SDRR, Pain Management and Inpatient Units. Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning implementation and evaluation. Demonstrates professionalism at all times and upholds standards of practice by adhering to professional guidelines for practice such as Texas Board of Nursing, American Nurses Association professional standards, Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards of care. Documents nursing care and supplies in a relevant and concise manner that demonstrates compliance with policy and awareness of medical/legal implications. Acts as physician-patient (family) liaison. Acts as patient advocate by providing appropriate teaching to patient and/or significant other. Provides assessment of physiologic, mental and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Uses critical thinking skills and knowledge to pro-actively intervene to ensure optimal patient care. Contributes to positive interpersonal and inter-departmental communication demonstrated by positive interactions with patients, families, peers, and physicians. Delegates tasks appropriate to the skill level of personnel. Acts as a resource in managing daily operations. Maintains a working knowledge and thorough understanding of all equipment and utilities and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the schedule and/or work assignments necessary to meet the changing needs of the individual patient or unit. Must work within scope of practice. Qualifications POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Training: • An Associate's Degree is required Licensure/Certification/Registration: • Registered Nurse in State of Texas • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Experience: • 1-3 years acute care as a Registered Nurse Key Skills: Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
