C*arbon Life Sciences is looking for an experienced fractionalChief Financial Officer (CFO)* with deep biotech expertise to provide strategic financial leadership. This role is crucial for building robust financial infrastructure, optimizing capital, and preparing for future funding rounds.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Financial Leadership:Develop and rigorously implement comprehensive financial strategies that are precisely aligned with the company's scientific milestones and long-term business objectives. Offer invaluable financial advice to the CEO and executive team on all critical financial matters, including potential M&A activities, strategic licensing agreements, and vital industry partnerships. Lead all aspects of financial planning, detailed budgeting, accurate forecasting, and sophisticated long-range financial modeling, specifically tailored to the nuances of biotech R&D cycles and clinical trial timelines.
• Biotech-Specific Expertise & Compliance:Provide expert financial guidance directly related to managing clinical trial costs, meticulous R&D expense tracking, intellectual property valuation, and ensuring strict adherence to relevant regulatory compliance (e.g., financial implications of FDA regulations). Demonstrate a deep understanding and ability to navigate the complexities of various biotech funding mechanisms, including grants, venture debt, and equity financing specifically tailored for life sciences. Offer strategic advice on future pricing strategies, potential reimbursement models, and optimal commercialization pathways for our upcoming product launches.
• Financial Operations & Risk Management:Oversee all core financial operations, including accounting, treasury management, payroll processing, and tax compliance. Establish and vigorously maintain robust internal controls, sound financial policies, and streamlined procedures, ensuring compliance with accepted accounting standards pertinent to the industry. Prepare accurate, timely financial statements and insightful management reports. Proactively manage cash flow, optimizing working capital efficiency, and actively identifying opportunities for cost savings while assessing and mitigating financial risks inherent in drug discovery and development.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Finance/Accounting (MBA/CPA preferred).
• CPA License Required
• 10+ years progressive financial leadership, with 3-5+ years as a CFO/VP Finance specifically in the biotech industry.
• Proven fundraising track record.
• Deep understanding of biotech lifecycles (discovery to commercialization).
• Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis specific to biotech.
• Strong accounting knowledge, analytical, and communication skills

Pay: $150,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
