Role x You

VMG is looking for a Freelance publishing coordinator to help carry out Google Web Stories publishing across Vice and Refinery29. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter who understands the unique voice of each brand in our portfolio and is well rounded in interests. You should be as excited about news as you are about food and beauty tips. This role would be perfect for someone who is interested in writing and creating content in the shortform vertical video space (i.e., TikTok, Snapchat, IG).

Google Web Stories is a storytelling format using 9x16 slides, similar to Instagram or Snapchat stories, and viewable in a mobile web browser. Google Web Stories can be video or text based. Currently, our focus is on video stories.

What you'll do

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior social media editor and post production team to facilitate Google Web Stories workflow efficiently
• Review videos and assist with editing decisions for cutdowns (timecodes for longer videos)
• Assist with SEO and headline writing on stories
• Build Google Web Stories in our CMS
• Assist with programming videos
• Archive and organize published Google Web Stories
• Pitch & shoot original stories when time allows

Qualifications:

• Strong copywriting skills and an understanding of the VMG brands’ voices.
• Organized and a self-starter
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices
• Video editing skills are a plus but not a requirement
