Job Description

About Odyssey: At Odyssey, our Mission is to enable access to high-quality education across the U.S. regardless of income. We do that by making Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) and microgrant programs accessible to parents and vendors, enabling millions of students across the country to choose their own education paths on the Odyssey platform. At Odyssey, our technology powers programs that collectively support more than 140,000 students across the US in accessing more than $400 million in state funding. About the Role: We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to help craft the experiences that families, vendors, and administrators rely on every day. You’ll work side-by-side with our product, design, and engineering teams to build polished, scalable, and user-friendly interfaces that make accessing education funding simple and intuitive. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute on the design side as well. From shaping how our product looks and feels to refining user flows, you’ll have a say in both the design and engineering of our platform. This role is a great fit for an engineer who wants to grow quickly, have real influence in product and design decisions, and see their work directly impact families across the country. What You’ll Do: • Build and maintain responsive, accessible, and performant web features using React + TypeScript. • Partner with our designer (and contribute design ideas yourself) to deliver beautiful, production-ready experiences. • Write clean, maintainable CSS (or modern frameworks like Tailwind) to create polished and consistent UI. • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and data into smooth frontend flows. • Participate in code reviews and share ideas to continuously improve our frontend architecture. • Help refine our product by giving input on usability, design, and technical feasibility.About You: • 3-5 years of professional experience as a frontend engineer. • Proficiency with React and TypeScript (or another modern framework, with willingness to learn React). • Solid experience with CSS (and/or frameworks like Tailwind, Styled Components, etc.). • Strong sense for clean design, accessibility, and polished user experiences. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset. • Excited to grow, take ownership, and contribute to a mission-driven startup.Bonus Skills (nice to have): • A portfolio or examples of past frontend/UI work that demonstrate design and implementation skills. • Figma, design systems, or UX/UI experience. • Experience in payments, eCommerce, or marketplaces.Additional Details: • This role is a hybrid position out of our NYC office in Tribeca. • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. • We believe that everyone at Odyssey should be compensated fairly. We set our salary bands based on compensation data from hundreds of companies at our stage. The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $180,000 depending on experience, interview performance and location. • Odyssey benefits include Medical/Dental/Vision plan(s), health services, short term disability, unlimited PTO and more. Our Commitment to Diversity: Odyssey encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply. We are an equal opportunity employer, committed to a fair and consistent interview process. Please inform us in your application if you require accommodation to apply for or perform your job. Why Odyssey: Join us if you believe in the power of education as the single most important investment we can make as Americans today. Odyssey is well-capitalized, with venture capital from leading technology investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Tusk Venture Partners. We are dedicated to making a massive impact in education in America.
