Job Description
We currently have an opening for a full-time or part-time Teacher in the Seattle/ Ravenna area. We’re seeking an early-career educator who is enthusiastic about learning, skilled in co-regulation, and able to adapt with patience and good humor to the evolving needs of our student.
Brock’s Academy is a Designer Education® program in which our teachers travel to the students. They work in homes, in schools, or at our learning center located in Woodinville, WA. We provide premium one-on-one tutoring and private school instruction to children and young adults who are having a difficult time in traditional school settings. Our programs are custom designed to match each student’s learning style, interests, and academic needs.
An ideal candidate would have experience in special education, experience with building curriculum and ability to teach flexibly. This person must be friendly, patient, fun, have a flexible approach to learning that integrates interests, be able to think outside the box and comfortable working elementary-aged/middle school aged students. This individual must also be capable of working independently and willing to travel. This student is located in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle.
Specific areas we are looking for:
• Willingness to be adaptable and experiment.
• Use a scientific approach to education, using trauma-informed approaches to support a student with a nervous-system disability.
• Practice a strengths-based, low-demand, playful approach to instruction.
• Have strong aptitude for working with emotional disabilities and on a collaborative team.
• Demonstrate aptitude and enthusiasm for learning approaches including Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) evidence-based approach as well as the SCERTS model for emotional regulation and communication.
• Familiarity with working with 2E (Twice Exceptional) students
At Brock’s, we seek out educators who have a passion for teaching outside of the box. Our teachers are creative, flexible, and willing to follow the interests of their students. They make learning engaging and fun. Relationship building is key. A teaching certification is not required for this position, but candidates must be able to build and maintain rapport with children and young adults.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Develop and maintain a genuine and positive relationship with the students, their families, and team members, including weekly coaching from a developmental SLP and a 2e specialist
• Instruct the student in a 1:1 setting in a private home, developing spontaneous, mission-based education inspired by student interests and interactions
• Attune to and co-regulate a student with an emotional disability and facilitate/enrich self-directed learning
• Maintain complete and accurate data and keeping records of sessions
Qualifications and Skills
• Education: 4-year degree (or equivalent) is required. A background in STEM, psychology or social work is highly preferred. A teaching certification is not required for this position.
• Skills: Ability to provide unique and individualized support and student-centered instruction based on the student’s learning needs.
• Misc.: Reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time or part-time
Salary: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and location. This can vary based on factors such as experience, location, and the specific responsibilities of the role.
