Multi-Cloud Senior Site Reliability Engineer - GCP and Azure

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of one of our PulsePoint locations.

The Multi-Cloud Senior Site Reliability Engineer performs analysis and research of systems and networks. Reviews detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Demonstrate maturity and understand of multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the perspective technology stackpreferably Azure and GCP
  • Ability to specialize, create, and implement cloud-based solutions such as SaaS and PaaS in AWS.
  • Build multiple cloud environment infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Backups, DR, and Monitoring).
  • Work closely with Development Teams, Cloud Security & Compliance, cloud automation and cloud infrastructure teams, etc. to execute our multi-cloud offerings.
  • Comfortable with scaling production systems and technologies, including load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and configuration management.
  • Ensure CI/CD and DevOps best practices and compliance for application release and deployment
  • Production experience in large environments using configuration management tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Complete understanding and perform configuration management duties within AWS with the use of RedHat OSE, AWSConfig, etc.
  • Advocate and implement cloud security policies and best practices with InfoSec Team(s)
  • Interface with software vendors for support as well as application and infrastructure teams
  • Understanding of tracking and ticket management via JIRA and ServiceNow tools
  • Good Interpersonal Skills, team-working attitude, takes initiatives and very proactive in solving problems
  • Work closely with Incident Management teams and functionally to ensure quick restoration of service.
  • Ability to be available and support the business via on-call rotation
  • Coordinate and manage the Engineering and Operational activities of our multi-cloud environment.
  • Responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, etc. of our Cloud environment.
  • Identify, automate, pursue, and implement systems and tools to eliminate toil - work tied to running a production service that tends to be manual, repetitive, automatable, tactical, devoid of enduring value, and that scales linearly as a service grows.
  • Participate in, as needed, postmortem activities for all significant cloud related incidents. This will include the investigation to establish what happened in detail, find all root causes of the event, and assign actions to correct the problem or improve how it is addressed next time.
  • Work with the appropriate service owners/stakeholders and Cloud Managed Services (CMS) Provider to develop runbooks/playbooks containing best practices for troubleshooting steps and tips for the most likely and impactful failure modes. Exercise the runbook/playbooks through group tabletop exercises.
  • Comfortable with building and managing multi-cloud dashboards, synthetic URLs, and optimizing our monitoring strategy with Datadog.
  • Create re-usable artifacts like CloudFormation templates and contribute to the pool of re-usable code
  • Ensure Elevance Health's architecture and design are compliant with all security, cost, performance and durability best practices and work closely and sometimes lead and cross functional teams, Cloud Security & Compliance, Infrastructure Teams, etc. to execute on cloud service offerings
  • Provide evening and/or weekend support to our internal and external customers as needed.
  • Provides advanced level engineering design functions.
  • Develops complex solutions from business requirements and architectural specifications; provides input to set or amend architectural specifications.
  • Creates presentations and seeks IT managements approval and acceptance of significant replacements or reconfigurations of major business systems serving the enterprise.
  • Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture).
  • Participates in the design of the enterprise architecture.
  • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on targeted or continuous assessment.
  • Participates in enterprise planning activity, including vendor assessment, technology platform selection and retirement, prioritization, and integration; routinely acts as a subject matter expert for executive management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management required; significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required; broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • 1 or more public Cloud Service Provider certification(s)
  • 8+ Years of experience in system administration, application development, and infrastructure development in multiple cloud infrastructures
  • 6+ years of experience and familiarity with site and infrastructure monitoring systems (like Datadog, AppDynamics, New Relic, Splunk, Grafana)
  • 8+ years of understanding and executing the use of XML, Shell, Perl, YAML, Ruby, Batch, and Python
  • Lambda and CloudFormation coding along with branch coding techniques
  • 6+ years of cloud infrastructure automation technologies (like Terraform, CodeDeploy, Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
  • 6+ years of managing images (e.g. AWS AMIs) including remediation and patching
  • 4+ years of cloud containers (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, GKE, etc.)
  • 6+ years of fundamental understanding of AWS networking fundamentals (e.g. VPC, TransitGateway, Routes, etc.) and configuration of health-check services and cloud load balancers (e.g. ELB, ALB, etc.)2+ years of cloud database operations and deployment experience (RDS, MySQL/Postgres/Aurora)
  • 2+ years of caching operations and deployment experience (e.g. Redis)

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $127,600 to $229,680.

Locations: California; Colorado; Nevada; Washington State; Jersey City, NJ; New York City, NY; Ithaca, NY and Westchester County, NY.
