Role Summary:
The inKind General Counsel is a broad role, intended to oversee all legal aspects of our business. You will safeguard our reputation by navigating legal and compliance guidelines, and provide counsel to management on legal matters. Obtaining a firm grasp of the business’ needs and strategic vision, you will participate in leadership discussions of complex problems, presenting any relevant risks and explaining the consequences of various approaches to handling such risks, leading to creative, business-focused solutions that will ensure the business continues to grow. You will work closely with outside counsel, marrying your understanding of the company and its operations with this subject-matter expertise to ensure advice is actionable within the business. Â

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:Â
- Give accurate, relevant, and timely counsel to executives and leadership on a variety of legal topics such as labor & employment law, potential and existing partnership relationships, international ventures, corporate finance, equity/credit/debt structures, etc,Â
- Prepare, review, and negotiate company contracts, requests for proposals, and other legal documents
- Serve as inKind’s internal expert on employment law and compliance mattersÂ
- Develop inKind's policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance, and regulatory affairs
- Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures by applying effective risk management techniques and offering proactive advise on possible legal issues
- Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules, and regulations that directly affect the business, as well as ensure company wide complianceÂ
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to all members of the organization
- Communicate with and manage third parties such as external counsel or auditorsÂ
- Determine the need for outside counsel or legal advice, and manage outside counselÂ
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. degree, barred/admitted to practice law in state of TexasÂ
- 10+ years experience in an executive-level position, as a General Counsel or senior-level legal officer
- 5+ years minimum experience in a tech or startup space
- Prior experience in corporate mergers & acquisitions and/or initial public offerings (IPOs)
- Outstanding communication and presentations skillsÂ
- Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills and proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a business environment
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
Preferred Qualifications:
- MA or BSc in Business AdministrationÂ
- Multi-state bar eligibility/admission
- Clerkship experience a plus
- Experience working for a consumer marketplace
- Experience working in the field of financial transaction compliance (SEC, FTC, etc.)
Work Environment:
- The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
- This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of operating from our physical office location in Austin, TexasÂ

Salary:Â
- $250,000 - $300,000 base DOE
