Generative AI Capability Lead

The Generative AI Capability Lead is a leadership role reporting to the Head of RDU Data Insights & Analytics. In this dynamic and influential position, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the strategic deployment of generative AI technologies across various business units and Therapeutic Areas! Your role is to lead and supervise the development and management of Gen AI products, ensuring they meet market needs, business/TA objectives, align with AZ ethical guidelines, and drive better business outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring a successful transition from ideation/concept to production and help own the entire lifecycle. You will work with the IT Business Partners to engage with leaders at all levels of global AZ organization to align plans, product roadmaps and approaches.

You will be responsible for:

• Defining the product vision and strategy by developing a clear vision for Gen AI products, aligning with AZ strategy, BU goals, and broader Ambition 2030 goals!
• Conduct market research and analysis translating market insights into Gen AI product features and improvements.
• Work with IT Business Partners and their team members to prioritize the portfolio of generative AI use cases according to business needs, requirements maturity, and resource availability.
• Work with IT Business Partners and their vital team members to ideate and scope use cases, settling right path forward, helping define success criteria.
• Engage with cross-functional and Delivery teams, including design, engineering, data science, to build and improve products through the product lifecycle.
• Ensure accurate governance processes and ethical guidelines are followed in alignment with AZ enterprise standards, including compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical AI usage.
• Further synergies and efficiencies within the IT Business Partner community and their collaborators with similar needs to bring to bear shared knowledge and technologies.
• Accountable for the improvement of existing AI products, building new generative AI capabilities, supervising the move to production, and maintenance for those at the proof-of-concept stage, in collaboration with IT delivery teams.
• Work with IT Portfolio lead on lifecycle management of generative AI solutions, from inception through to deployment and advise IT delivery teams on ongoing performance monitoring.
• Collaborating closely with the AI governance, security, compliance and regulatory and legal teams to ensure all products adhere to internal and external policies and regulations.
• Advocate and ensure the use of Agile software development methodologies for swift and adaptive product development.
• Develop strategies for market expansion to other regions/countries.
• Maintain high level of proficiency of AI and related technologies, and their applications.

You will need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Business Administration, or an equivalent field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management or IT project delivery, with at least 3-5 years focused on AI or machine learning initiatives.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in Agile methodologies and cross-functional team leadership.
• Proven track record of leading a portfolio sophisticated projects with diverse technical and business partners.

We would prefer for you to have:

• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a closely equivalent field, with an understanding of the regulatory landscape.
• Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Certifications in product ownership, such as CSPO, or project management, such as PMP or PRINCE2.
• Direct experience with generative AI models and their specific applications in pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
• Proven track record of innovating and developing a culture of continuous improvement within a product management team.
