Position Summary

We're working on innovative foods and formulas that rival healthcare, pharma, human food, and tech companies around the world-foods and formulas that can extend the lives and cognitive function in maturing dogs and cats. We're developing ways to improve the vision of cats and minimize pet allergies through quality nutrition. We were the first ever to extrude dry dog food and we're backed by a lengthy list of patents-a portfolio of industry firsts.

Nestle Purina is actively seeking a skilled and dynamic expert in genomics focusing on using this tool to understand metabolic pathways that drive health and disease. As a genomic scientist, you will be part of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team investigating the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on health in pets. You will collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts in nutrition, veterinary medicine, and systems biology based on integrated data from multiple -omics technology platforms including host and microbiome genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. As a member of an agile team with a global responsibility, you will have the opportunity to play a central role in developing and shaping the future efforts in this fast-moving area within Nestle Purina.

  • Propose, develop, and implement new ideas/activities/projects to identify key biological and physiological processes affecting health in companion animals
  • Propose, plan, test, and deliver innovative preclinical and clinical nutritional solutions to enhance health and longevity in companion animals
  • Collaborate with external and internal experts applying a variety of experimental and multi-omic tools to develop and test nutrition-research hypotheses
  • Integrate scientific knowledge with the business advance Innovation & Renovation pipelines in companion animal nutrition
  • Present results/methods in written and oral forms to internal and external stakeholders
  • Explore patentable ideas and align with regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain a strong external expert and scientific network representing Nestle Purina Research credible scientific partner
  • Contribute to scientific communication material, patents, and peer-reviewed publications

Requirements

  • PhD degree in genomics or related field
  • 3+ years postdoctoral or professional experience
  • 1+ years expertise in nutrition and pet physiology with an emphasis on leveraging omics data
  • 1+ years managing projects from end to end

Other

  • Expertise in veterinary medicine or pet clinical research is preferred
  • Expertise in multi-omics approaches and system biology is preferred
  • Experience in extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data is preferred
