Role overview

We are looking for an experienced GL Accountant to support the group reporting function at Calo. Will be responsible in supporting the group accounting transactions and providing consolidated reports in alignment with the overall business processes, procedures and as relevant Financial Reporting Standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledgers of the Company including subsidiaries, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and ledger analysis.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data.
  • Support the month-end close process, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Support financial reporting activities, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies.
  • Implement best practices and streamline workflows to optimize resource utilization and minimize errors.
  • Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Planning & Analysis, to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, and a relevant Professional Qualification
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies
  • Accuracy & attention to detail
  • Must be currently located in Bahrain
