Job Description
- Provide dangerous goods training to logistics, warehouse, and trade classification teams
- Provide training to designated hazmat employees related to dangerous goods element expectations, identification, classification, marking, labeling, packaging, and documentation of dangerous goods
- Audit and monitor upstream processes carried out by Engineering, QARA, EHS etcthat are designed to identify items as dangerous goods for downstream functions. Capture issues and create corrective actions requests for hazmat shipment issues
- Identify and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure proper policies, procedures and work instructions related to dangerous goods are documented and published
- Illuminate enterprise-wide gaps related to dangerous goods and lead cross functional counter measure to eliminate risk to Cytiva
- Provide daily guidance to the trade classification team responsible for assigning dangerous goods classification to finished goods
- Coordinate all communication with external authorities related to dangerous good inspection and audit
- Develop standard work assigning roles and responsibilities for all functions responsible for dangerous goods identification, compliance and shipping.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders as well as affiliated support organizations to improve Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods safety and compliance performance
- Coordinate issue resolution with carriers and regulators when hazmat shipment issues are identified
- Keep updated on applicable local, state and federal dangerous goods regulations and disseminate information to business stakeholders
- Serve as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders to drive resolution of dangerous goods related issues as they are identified and resolved.
- 5+ years in storage, handling, and transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management/disposal
- Working knowledge of hazmat/dangerous goods transportation regulations (49 CFR, IATA) operations, and procedures including battery transportation compliance
- Working knowledge of packaging, marking, labeling and dangerous goods documentation
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Solid communication and analytical skills, including experience with communicating with others from different counties and cultures
- Ability to energize, develop and build rapport at all levels within the organization
- Ability to work across multiple teams to drive independent initiatives/projects.
