The Global HEOR Lead, Retinopathies is responsible for the development of global health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) long-term strategies of programs spanning the entire value generation period. Global health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) long-term strategies demonstrate the payer-relevant value of BI products on a global scale and for various aspects. This function generates evidence that secures optimal market and patient access, successful HTA assessments, optimal pricing, reimbursement, and formulary listing, on a global scale.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Representative for Market Access in international project teams, i.e., Core Team, Brand Team, Market Access Sub team (MAXT), etc., and provide input to these teams from a Market Access perspective (in co-ordination with P&A manager). This includes:
- Defining the long-term global development strategy for the assets, in close collaboration with the global Marketing and global medical counterparts, to ensure optimal patient access.
- Evaluating TPPs (target product profiles) from a payer perspective.
- Shaping the design of TPPs and the corresponding global clinical development programs supporting them to achieve a higher chance for favorable pricing and market access (in co-ordination with the core team and the medical sub team), e.g., regarding clinical trial comparators, endpoints, patient populations, etc.
- Providing HEOR & Market Access-related input into key strategic documents incl. Management Summaries, Clinical Development Plans, early IBPs etc. including those presented for senior decision-making committees (e.g., TALC, HPSC).
- Designs, develops, and implements a global long-term value demonstration strategy consisting of several workstreams and oversee their implementation for the asset(s), building on insights from payer research and an understanding of treatment and care pathways, generating data supporting the value story through clinical data and through research outside of clinical trials.
- Strategies will likely include all the following: patient-reported outcomes, Core Value Message Templates, Literature Reviews, Indirect treatment comparisons, Cost-effectiveness Models, Value demonstration studies, Value toolbox etc.
- Ensures that value demonstration programs are effectively communicated/published internally and externally, for assigned BI products.
- Drafts a long-term publication strategy, in close collaboration with medical and marketing counterparts, considering the long-term global market development and under consideration of communication needs at time of launch.
- Develops and implements a collaborative strategic framework with academic research institutions, contract research organizations, and other HEOR thought leaders to optimize the impact of HEOR research.
- Sets the strategic framework for global market access at time of launch.
- Ensures all regions and (R)OPUs across the globe receive the optimal support for the entire range of comprehensive and innovative value toolbox "elements" and provides support during local strategy implementation.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Business, Economics, Health Economics, Medicine, Pharmacy, Finance, Natural Sciences, or related discipline.
- Minimum of ten (10) years pharma industry experience, with positions in the areas of health economics, pricing & reimbursement, consulting, or payer authorities.
- At least two (2) years working experience in a pharmaceutical company in a global role (essential)
- At least two (2) years international exposure.
- Strong track record in value generation, demonstration and/or communication.
- Highly experienced in conducting health economics/outcomes research across multiple specialty disciplines (e.g., patient reported outcomes, health economic modelling, real world data generation)
- Disease understanding of indication areas applicable to assigned BI products is desirable.
- Business fluent in English.

- Demonstrates leadership skills to internal cross-functional and external teams, setting clear expectations and accountabilities. Masters effective communication and presentation skills and is recognized as a good collaborator by (R)OPUs, TA colleagues, and external partners.
- Leading of effective execution of projects and processes against clearly defined milestones and timelines.
- Masters technical expertise and an ability to transform it into data generation strategies creating value for the asset(s), including methodological skills in areas of evidence generation for market access audiences, such as health economic modelling, clinical outcomes assessment development, network meta-analysis, real-world data generation or similar.
- Masters ability to continuously develop one's own and others' skills and expertise, and to give and seek feedback in an open appreciative and constructive manner.
- Masters analytical thinking to translate results into strategic approaches to support future pricing and market access.
- Masters an understanding and anticipation of payer/customer perspectives worldwide, particularly in countries with HTA hurdle, and their evidence generation requirements.
- Masters an ability to translate these into business insights and strategies.
- Masters an innovation mindset by proactively seeking new opportunities for our market access strategies, thinking out-of-the-box, challenging the status quo, and embracing continuous change.
Eligibility Requirements :
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
