Global Project Lead

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a skilled professional to join as Global Project Lead supporting the Engineering Excellence group within the Global Systems and Software team at our CTCM location in Auburn Hills, MI.

This role gives the opportunity to work in electrified propulsion, an integral part of the growing Electric Vehicle market. This is a global role, allowing the chance to collaborate with a cross-functional team on multiple continents.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the Engineering Excellence business plan / roadmap and corresponding detailed plans to achieve annual goals.
• Lead Engineering Excellence projects, group stand-ups and retrospectives
• Recommend and implement metrics, reports, and / or KPI's to show how the Engineering Excellence group is achieving results
• Drive the implementation of Engineering Excellence projects
• Manage personnel responsible for developing technical training and communication modules
• Manage process framework change control boards, ensuring action items and updates are captured and committed to by team members
• Lead Electronic Development Framework process improvement to ensure compliance to customer and industry standards.
• Develop and implement engineering project management processes, methods, and tools to improve project delivery and quality. Champion their adoption in the organization.
• Coach engineering staff, at all levels, on project planning processes so they may implement the processes for their own work and teams.
• Coach teams in project planning principles, provide employees with feedback and a means of improvement by answering their questions. Steer the teams using deployed methods to identify and resolve issues early.
• Advise teams on how to tailor the planning process to meet both local and global needs, considering the way work is done locally within projects and the requirements for visibility into projects at a global level.
• Be an advocate for quality, doing things the right way and reaping the benefits that come from working with processes proactively

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 10 years relevant work experience in product development (ideally in automotive related products)
• 5 years of project management experience
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with project management practices and tools required
• The proven ability to analyze existing ways of working and to identify and implement required improvements
• Experience with Product Development Life Cycle
• Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean, process development, and improvement coaching experience preferred
• Practical experience managing projects to ASPICE, ISO26262, and ISO21434 preferred.
• Organized and structured work style and attention to detail are required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language required.
• Demonstrated technical training development and delivery experience preferred.
• Experience leading individuals and teams to establish and meet objectives.
• Proven people leader/supervision skills managing a global network of regional teams aligned on executing projects to a common engineering process framework.
• Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage and coordinate projects spanning several geographic locations.
• Agile or SAFe knowledge and experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and/or Atlassian JIRA
• Ability to travel occasionally
