Summary

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station, Mayport, Florida. The purpose of this position is to provide the technical expertise to design and implement a program of maintenance for the golf course, driving range, practice putting green, which includes the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, the irrigation system and related facilities and equipment. Incumbent is responsbile for maintaining the golf course with 201 acres under grass.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop, stand and walk regularly to accomplish job.
  • Must be able to tolerate all weather conditions, to include hot/humid, cold damp conditions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Must possess at least two years specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Required to have a broad background in Golf Course maintenance and operations. having experience and knowledge of established agronomic practices.
  • Required to have knowledge of various types of pests and pesticides required for treatment.
  • Be a graduate of the Navy Department, Medical Entomology and Pest Control Technology Course or attend and complete the course within 6 months after employment.
  • Experience in determining the method of operation and analysis of complex problems and interpretations of procedures.
  • Required having a working knowledge and professional expertise of Golf Course equipment
  • Required having knowledge and understanding of the rules of golf along with the ability to view golf course from the perspective of the patron.
  • Must possess ability to lead and supervise employees
