SUMMARY The Graphic Designer is responsible for the implementation of the goals of Catholic education as outlined in The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools (Archbishop Michael Miller): • Inspired by a Supernatural Vision • Founded on a Christian Anthropology • Animated by Communion and Community • Imbued with a Catholic Worldview • Sustained by Gospel Witness Qualified candidates will be driven and inspired by the mission of Catholic schools to form young men and women in a high school setting “who will be good citizens of the world, loving God and neighbor and enriching society with the leaven of the gospel, and who will also be good citizens of the world to come, thus fulfilling their destiny to become saints” (Miller, p. 20). The Graphic Designer maintains a strong brand identity and recognition through the design of publications, promotional materials, and digital/print advertising that visually supports and promotes the school. The Graphic Designer must be a self-starter, one who embraces ownership of the Bishop Lynch brand, shows initiative in collaborating with departments and leaders to bring visions to life, and has ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. JOB EXPECTATIONS • Maintain a consistent and engaging brand presence through the applying Bishop Lynch branding guidelines to print and digital designs. • Work collaboratively with members of the Communications Team in the development and execution of marketing and communications strategies that advance BLHS and drive increased engagement with prospective, current, and alumni constituencies. • Develop the layout and production design specifications for all external-facing institutional publications including admissions marketing pieces, donor solicitation and stewardship content, magazines, annual reports, pamphlets, brochures, invitations, flyers, and other publications. • Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts; employ color, typography, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques when designing each project. • Execute design requests from departments across all four quadrants including Academics, Advancement, Formation, and Operations. • Work with print vendors to see projects through to final production, selecting appropriate print mediums for projects. • Maintain technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies; researching other schools and trends. • Develop a deep understanding of Bishop Lynch’s history, culture, traditions, and constituencies and understand the educational philosophy to inform design styles. • Attend and lead key meetings to communicate creative vision, processes, and strategies. • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, arts or related field preferred. • 3+ years’ relevant experience • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability, and originality. • Professionalism regarding time, costs, and deadlines. • Confidence to present and explain ideas on collaborative projects. • Comprehensive knowledge and experience related to computer systems and technologies. • Mastery of current Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator. • Comprehensive knowledge of marketing and branding strategies used in print and web media • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the printing process. • Superior organization skills include the ability to handle multiple departments, audiences, and deadlines with changing priorities. • Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills • Great with feedback, iteration, and optimization Qualified candidates should email resume and digital portfolio or link to website [email protected] submit a formal application by clicking “Apply for this job”.
