Job Description
Calix is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to develop, test and maintain hardware for next generation Ethernet-based access products.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide technical leadership for the hardware design effort from conception to production for high speed PCBA designs.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to define system/hardware architectures and requirements.
- Participate in creation and approval of project plan, including schedules, requirements, specifications, and test verification & system integration plans.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to both internal and external partner development teams.
- Perform and Lead Design Reviews, Test Plan reviews and Test Result reviews.
- Work with other cross functional organizations to bring designs from prototype to production.
- Interface with Operations and Supply Chain teams to qualify additional component sources.
- Perform routine reviews and updates to existing Production designs, with focus on overall BOM health and design improvements/enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3--5 years Hardware PCBA design experience.
- Must have high-speed PCBA experience, in addition to a breadth of knowledge in other areas of hardware design such as:
- Point of Load power converters
- DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 interface design
- CPU/Microcontroller subsystem design
- PCIe interface design
- I2C/PM Bus design
- Strong knowledge of signal integrity theory, including the use of Hyperlynx and H-Spice simulation tools.
- Knowledgeable about high-speed PCB layout techniques.
- Understanding of static timing analysis.
- Good trouble shooting skills for high-speed digital system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- BSEE required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scripting languages, such as Python.
- Telecom/datacom hardware design.
- High speed 10/25G serdes design experience.
- PCBA Stackup Definition.
- Power distribution system analysis and design.
- Analog circuit design.
- Familiar with Mentor Graphics Expedition schematic capture and layout tools.
