Job Description
Smartly.io is seeking a Head of Communications to help tell our story through external communications, media relations, awards and internal communications.
As Head of Communications, you will be responsible for informing the Smartly.io narrative and communications strategy for press, analysts, customers and employees and will play a meaningful role growing the company’s share of voice across the industry.
As the Head of Communications you will act as the main point of contact for trade press and partners, ensuring consistent narratives and alignment with our core and regional business goals.
Reporting into the SVP, Marketing and Communications, this position requires an upbeat and creative individual with broad communications skills and relationships with the ad trade press. The ideal candidate is a highly-organized, self-starter with a curiosity about advertising and social media technologies. Candidates should have experience in corporate communications, strong relationship with trade press and familiarity with the digital advertising or B2B technology industries.
As the Head of Communications at Smartly.io you will…- Inform proactive and reactive communication plans for core platform and product suites including media relations, content creation and speaking opportunities
- Partner with SVP, Marketing & Communications to implement external communications strategy to position Smartly amongst the most innovative and important ad tech companies globally shaping digital advertising
- Work directly with senior leaders to build their professional profiles and Smartly.io brand equity
- Write and inform content for all of Smartly.io owned channels (i.e., blog posts, social media, etc.) and for thought leadership opportunities (i.e., story pitches, executive Q&As, bylines, awards, etc.) that supports company-wide business objectives, brand campaigns and events
- Contribute to Social Media (community) channels by amplifying PR & content activities to drive awareness and engagement
- Oversee and inform internal communications content which builds excitement, drives engagement, aligns teams and individuals and shapes culture
- Is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies that promote the company brand identity and attracts top talent
- Partner with Marketing Operations to track performance metrics across platforms and evaluate the success of campaigns using analytical tools (i.e., Meltwater) and reporting systems for PR
- 8 + years of public relations/communications experience ideally in an agency or in-house roles
- Experience working in the advertising, media or technology industries (required)
- A broad understanding of the current media landscape and advertising and internet industry storylines
- Proven track record working cross-functionally and managing project deadlines and deliverables
- Experience partnering with PR agencies to define and implement in-house communications strategy
- The ability to create ‘reasons to click’ without always having something new to say
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Highly proactive, with the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple projects
- A collaborative, fearless and inclusive team player!
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing or similar
