The opportunity

QBE’s Australia Pacific (AUSPAC) Division is embarking on an enterprise digital transformation, which is fundamentally different to anything undertaken previously. The AUSPAC Modernisation will materially improve our customer, partner, and employee experiences to deliver our AUSPAC strategy. To ensure effective operational risk management of this Modernisation, we are currently hiring for the Head of Operational Risk – Modernisation role.

 

Your new role

As a key first line of defence for the operational risk of the AUSPAC Modernisation, this role will be crucial to ensure that program risks are effectively anticipated and managed. To do this, you will:

  • Lead first line risk management and control testing

  • Collaborate closely with operational risk peers and partners in first, second and third line risk to ensure alignment

  • Provide commercially and technically astute, pragmatic recommendations which balance risk with opportunity

  • Set up the Modernisation for success through proactive risk management and guidance on corrective actions

  • Be the central point of contact for all Modernisation related risk activities including the coordination of all operational risk management functions, risk governance, regulatory and compliance and risk performance tracking

About You

The essential requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in large-scale transformations, showcasing strategic acumen and risk management, with an emphasis on organisational transformational initiatives  over business as usual operations.

  • Proven expertise in cloud environments, encompassing oversight, regulatory approvals, control assurance, and testing outcomes.

  • Deep knowledge of risk management within complex, regulated settings.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and large-scale enterprise transformations, particularly in relation to regulatory compliance.

  • A track record of success in fast-paced environments, consistently meeting tight deadlines while upholding the highest standards, utilising a hands-on leadership style to drive outcomes within a matrix structure.

  • The capability to navigate ambiguity and change, adeptly reprioritising initiatives as necessary.

  • Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to cultivate extensive networks that drive thought leadership.
