The Role

Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the Head of Platform Engineering will lead and shape the Platform Engineering group, driving the development and maturation of our platform that facilitates complex ML, computational and quantum chemistry models and methodologies for drug discovery. This leadership role involves overseeing teams of infrastructure and software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and scientific excellence, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.

This position combines strategic vision, technical leadership, and team mentorship to ensure Genesis Therapeutics remains at the forefront of machine learning for drug discovery.

Responsibilities

• The Head of Platform Engineering plays a critical role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and platform, driving innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions that support our internal R&D efforts and those of our external partners
• Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the platform engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
• Platform Development: Lead the development and execution of the platform roadmap, working closely with product managers and ML & computational chemistry scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions
• Technical Excellence: Ensure the engineering team adheres to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Team Building: Recruit, onboard, and mentor top engineering talent, building a high-performing team capable of delivering world-class platform solutions
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and customer success, to ensure alignment on platform priorities and delivery schedules
• Stakeholder Management: Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on project status, addressing concerns, and managing expectations
• Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation in for our tech stack
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable platform solutions, with a focus on stakeholder satisfaction and business impact

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• 5+ years in leadership roles, including 3+ years managing managers
• Proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering complex software products
• Strong technical expertise in software development, architecture, and design, with proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks
• Experience with platform engineering and infrastructure technologies, such as container orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure), and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical a
