Our Challenge 

For more than 20 years, Quickbase has been viewed as a leader in enabling business users to build applications. It was ahead of its time, and despite little marketing it was adopted by many of the world's biggest and most respected organizations at seven-figure scale. 

Today, the no code market is surging, driven by increased business complexity and a growing technology talent gap. Quickbase is primed to win markets, particularly where complex projects are central to growth. 

Our challenge is to build a go-to-market model that wins markets – positioning ourselves as a category leader, growing our partner ecosystem, extending into new geographies, and driving enterprise-wide adoption through strong governance and business user innovation. 

Product marketing is central to rising to that challenge. 

 

The Job 

You will be a highly visible senior leader in one of the hottest spaces in software, leading the implementation of our category-defining strategy from the front. Your charter is to drive product adoption by shaping market perception with coordinated go-to-market activities. You will lead a talented team, help define the rules of an emerging category, and direct our go-to-market to accelerate growth to 30%+ YoY. 

To be successful, you'll need to do three things well: 

 

Create strategic clarity 

  • Set a category-defining marketing strategy. You will align our marketing strategy to our corporate strategy, aiming to win markets. You will utilize a pragmatic marketing framework to operationalize it across the organization, putting your team in a position to contribute to brand strategy, product strategy, and marketing campaigns. 

  • Systematically enhance our understanding of customers and competitors. You will build a system to make market intelligence a differentiator. You'll define and refine our view of the ideal customer, including segments, personas, and the buyer journey. You will programmatically surface insights on key competitors, and you will make it easy for our teams to de-position them. 

  • Act as an evangelist internally and externally. You will work hands on with internal teams, partners, and external audiences to build understanding of our market, our buyers, and the problems we solve. As someone who loves to teach, you will seek out opportunities to share simple and actionable insights that improve the experience of sellers, marketers, and customers alike. 

 

Execute to deliver go-to-market results 

  • Repackage our platform. Our platform likely needs to be re-messaged, re-packaged, and re-priced to map to the needs of our now-defined target buyers. Develop a clear and simple product blueprint - and work with the product team to translate that into pricing and packaging that aligns to value at each stage of the customer journey. 

  • Build a sustainable growth flywheel. You will formulate the right recipe for growth, meshing direct sales, partners, and product led growth to win new customers and accelerate platform adoption to every part of the organization. And, you will work with marketing, sales, and product to implement it, helping to define what channels and activities will make our growth flywheel spin – and what messages to deliver when.

  • Systematically enable influencers wherever they are. You are obsessed with creating remarkable content for those who influence our buyers directly. You'll craft core product content, build high-performing sales toolkits and experiment to drive conversion on the web. But you won't stop there. You'll build relationships with key analysts, members of our community, and industry thought leaders, creating a system to enable them to amplify the value of Quickbase in the "dark funnel." 

  • Globalize our business to reach new markets. Our most untapped opportunity for growth is to reach new geographies, and our go-to-market model is different there. We utilize global system integrators and regional partners to take us to new markets faster. You'll work with our VP of international, partner marketing and our channel team to build a repeatable system for opening and dominating new geographies.

  • Measure, analyze, and improve performance. You subscribe to the notion that product marketing is measurable. Bring your analytical mindset to creating a marketing and sales funnel that hums. With your team, analyze and interpret which messages and materials are most effective at turning target organizations into customers, and customers into advocates. Draw performance data from multiple sources, interpret and forecast trends, and surface insights that you and the entire marketing team can act on.

 

Lead inclusive, high-performing teams 

  • Lead and scale a best-in-class product marketing organization. You'll have a global team of 5 people from the start, and we anticipate your team will grow to 10 or more as the business scales. Hire, structure, and inspire your team. Groom for succession. Ensure that your direct reports adopt a "team one" mindset to lead across the org. The best product marketers are multipliers. Help your team to balance the need for strategic planning with efficient execution. Inspire the global team with a vision that drives engagement and a passion to succeed.

  • Contribute beyond your function. The thing that distinguishes VPs is their ability and inclination to contribute to the business beyond the functional boundaries of their role. You will lead company-wide initiatives that stretch you beyond product marketing. You will build inclusive teams of people you don't manage – and how aren't even in marketing. Qualifications 

  • Deep understanding of B2B Go-To-Market (GTM) models, including direct sales, channel and product-led growth 

  • Proven success in positioning B2B products to win markets 

  • Genuine category and product curiosity 

  • Strategic mindset to see the big picture, but strong on execution to drive results 

  • Experience building and leading diverse teams 

  • Strong cross-functional leadership through influence, including with product and sales 

  • Experience leading beyond your function, including key company-wide strategic initiatives 

  • Ability to simplify complex things into simple, persuasive messages 

  • B2B business savvy 

  • Desire to lead in a fast-changing, fast-paced environment
