Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular emphasis on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for crafting high-quality sushi dishes that meet our guests' expectations in a fine dining environment. Duties • Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, ensuring high quality and presentation standards. • Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop innovative menu items that reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations at all times. • Ensure proper food handling practices are followed during all stages of food preparation. • Assist in menu planning and special catering events as needed, contributing creative ideas for new dishes. • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices. • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment. Experience • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry, particularly in fine dining establishments. • Strong culinary skills with expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and knife skills specific to sushi making. • Background in dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred but not required. • Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, catering services, and food service operations is advantageous. • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential for maintaining a safe kitchen environment. • Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable to ensure familiarity with fast-paced kitchen dynamics.
