Job Description
Overview:
The Health and Welfare Representative provides essential support to the Welfare Benefits Department by performing routine administrative tasks and assisting participants with general inquiries. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. The Representative works under close supervision and follows established procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.
The Health & Welfare Representative position is a full-time position, with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Position Functions and Responsibilities:
• Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail which will also include emails
• Perform basic data entry and update participant records
• Take participant walk ins
• Assist with photocopying, scanning, filing, and faxing documents
• Support the creation and formatting of simple forms using Word or Excel
• Help maintain daily insight adhoc reports assigned
• Assist with updating benefit plan information under guidance from senior staff
• Process participant Enrollment, HIPPA, Beneficiary forms, and assist with form completion
• Assist with review and processing of Life Insurance, HRA applications.
• On occasion provide general support to the Vacation and Pension Departments (non-PHI tasks), including:
• Answering routine participant calls
• Checking system records for form submissions
• Printing work hour summaries for participants
• Verifying receipt of Pensioner Life Verification Letters
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Working knowledge in Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of “8x8” telephone system is preferred but not mandatory
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Strong telephone etiquette and “people skills”
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including written communications
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required
• Proficiency with 10-key by touch
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in diverse work environment with diverse walk-in clients
• 2-5 years of related experience is preferred but not mandatory
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.66 - $30.29 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
