Job Description

ABOUT US:
The Veterans Healthcare Administration is the largest health care system in the United States. Our Little Rock Arkansas facility is rated in the most complex category among our 152 facilities across the nation. Our goal is to build the nation’s best Hematology and Oncology programs for our veterans. We are seeking one outstanding Hematologist/Oncologist to join our Little Rock facility and help us reach that goal. We have a total of 280 operating beds at our Little Rock facility. Additionally, we have a 119 bed rehab unit, and a 152 bed community living center. Our Little Rock facility is also adjoined with our affiliate academic medical center, the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, through a skybridge for easy access to both sites.

WORKLOAD AND TEAM:
1. Daily schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm;
2. Clinic, Inpatient rounding and consults;;
3. Nights, weekends and holiday on-call responsibility of no more than 10 days per month. A full hospitalist team manages most weeknight and weekend calls based on your preferences;
4. Mentor Residents and Fellows;

COMP & BENEFITS:
1. Starting base salary range - $275,000-$350,000;
2. Financial incentives - such as recruitment, and relocation up to $40,000 per year;
3. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - up to another $40,000 per year, if approved;
4. Paid Time Off - 55 days per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid for CME) + up to 12 weeks of paid paternity/maternity leave;
5. No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting;
6. Malpractice insurance that includes tail coverage;
7. Affordable health, life, vision, dental, and long-term care insurance;
8. Public Service Loan Forgiveness after 10 years of service.

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum qualifications include an MD/DO from an accredited institution, (or ECFMG)
2. Completion of residency training (if foreign residency, must be followed by 5 years of practice or fellowship experience in the USA), and
3. Possess an active, current, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or territory.

ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES:
1. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology
2. Skilled in the latest types of Hematology and Oncology therapies
