Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Senior Life Skills Lead Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and empowering students by helping them develop the skills necessary to function independently in daily life. This role involves teaching hygiene, social skills, and job skills. Additionally, this role requires taking students into the community. The right teacher for this classroom enjoys a challenge and thrives with rewarding work. You will be part of a team that loves to work hard, have fun, and that will always have your back. You will work alongside teachers, assistant teachers, and a clinic team that provides the support and learning opportunities to make you want to come to work each day. William’s School is a private non-profit school for children ages 2-21 with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or emotional/behavioral disorders. The right candidate will utilize constructive feedback, positive reinforcement, individualize student instruction, and implement consistent schedules to support students with their growth. Experience working with behavioral challenges is preferred. This classroom has 4 students and is staffed with a full-time, highly qualified teaching assistant and is supported by behavior therapists and behavior technicians. Responsibilities:
o Assess students’ academic, functional living, and classroom skills at the beginning and end of year.
o Create lesson plans adaptive to individual student needs.
o Create class schedule with academic, life skills, and therapy requirements.
o Teach according to agreed upon lesson plans.
o Community Integration.
o Transition support.
o Create student IPP plan and present to parents.
o Track student progress and update information monthly and send to parents every 9 weeks.
o Come prepared to lead Parent Teacher meetings.
o Align lesson plans to student IPP goals and state standards.
o Create and reinforce classroom rules.
o Implement Behavior Intervention Plan as written.
o Work cooperatively with school administration.
o Coordinate services with behavior therapists, occupational therapist, and speech therapist as well as outside therapy providers.
o Write therapy notes clearly and properly.
o Create a structured, clean, orderly, engaging, and welcoming classroom.
o Contribute to creating a work environment that fosters teamwork, support, and positive growth.
Qualifications:
o Must pass background check.
o ABA/Behavior Management experience preferred.
o Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, Master's preferred; certified teachers preferred.
o Energetic personality.
o Experience leading a classroom for a minimum of 1 year with a focus on life skills development.
Required Hours: M-Th 8-4:00 and Friday 8-2:30.
Paid vacation and holidays. Benefits available after 60 days of employment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
