Position Overview We are seeking a science teacher for a private homeschool teaching opportunity serving 3 to 7 students ranging from age 7 to high school levels. We are looking for a flexible, driven, and innovative candidate capable of inspiring students to excel beyond their grade level in a dynamic learning environment. The ideal applicant is dynamic, motivated, and committed, with a passion for science education and an optimistic belief in their students’ potential. Qualified candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, or general science). The teacher is responsible for promoting the employer’s educational philosophy, which emphasizes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and a strong STEM focus, while upholding a high ethical standard. They will play a key role in designing a tailored educational program that reflects the employer’s vision, incorporating non-traditional methods while maintaining rigorous academic standards. This position demands adaptability and a creative vision to deliver a unique, high-quality schooling experience for a small group of children. Both on-site and distance learning will be required. Specific Duties - Communicates daily lessons and instructions to students in a clear, engaging, and developmentally appropriate manner. - Establishes measurable learning objectives in collaboration with students and adapts them to individual needs. - Designs flexible, effective teaching strategies and tools to foster active learning and academic growth. - Creates and assigns projects, essays, tests, quizzes, and independent work, providing accurate and constructive feedback through grading. - Offers individualized support to students requiring additional assistance with coursework. - Maintains current credentials and degrees in compliance with accrediting and regulatory bodies. - Monitors and encourages student progress, using data to refine teaching strategies and enhance outcomes. - Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of students’ progress and development as required by law, district policies, and school regulations. - Prepares and submits detailed reports on student performance and program activities. - Develops and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that promote hands-on, inquiry-based science learning, including physics for high school students. - Collaborates with parents/guardians to align educational goals and provide regular updates on student progress. - Stays informed on educational trends, scientific advancements, and best practices to ensure cutting-edge instruction. Classroom Environment - Employs positive guidance techniques to foster a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere. - Communicates with students at their developmental level, building trust and understanding across ages 7 to high school. - Establishes consistent routines with smooth transitions to maintain a productive learning environment. - Encourages student independence and accountability in their academic work. - Designs a flexible room arrangement suited to a home-based or hybrid setting, supporting program goals. - Ensures a safe and healthy environment, promptly reporting maintenance issues to the employer. - Maintains classroom inventory and assists in procuring equipment and supplies within the allocated budget. - Cultivates a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere among a small, diverse group of learners. Qualifications and Education Requirements - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, or general science). - Texas State certification in teaching (preferred). - Proven experience as a school teacher, ideally in a homeschool or small-group setting. - Ability to work with students aged 7 to high school, including demonstrated proficiency in teaching physics at the high school level. - Demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction to address varied learning levels and styles. - Thorough understanding of best practices in science education and curriculum development. - Proficiency in digital tools for distance learning (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, or similar platforms). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong organizational skills and a flexible, solution-oriented mindset. - Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage students, parents, and the employer effectively. - Ability to report to work reliably and punctually. - Willingness to perform additional tasks as needed to support the school program’s objectives. - Knowledge of relevant technology and its implementation in education. Familiarity with homeschooling regulations and alternative education models (preferred). Additional Notes Background Check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required prior to employment. Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience; benefits package available (details provided upon interview).
