HOTEL EVENT MANAGER

The Event Manager is responsible executing sales contracts or working with assigned groups and working directly with meeting planners to coordinate all aspects of a group onsite experience. This Event Manager role is unique as you will be working in both Event Sales and Event Planning. Grand Hyatt San Antonio is seeking an Event Manager to join our exciting and fun team. We are seeking a motivated and creative new leader to take advantage of unique opportunities to impress and delight our groups. The Event Manager is responsible for detailing and being onsite for the events and ensuring guest satisfaction. Primary efforts are in banquet food, beverage and meeting room rental and will include menu planning, agenda setting, hotel meeting services, hospitality amenities, and special VIP requests. Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service. Event Managers also host hotel site tours, client familiarization events, maintain strong customer relationships, participate and may lead event meetings, and other staff meetings, and work as a team member with the sales and events staff. Benefits: • On-site hotel covered parking at a discounted monthly rate • Full benefits offered after 30 days of employment • 401K options and matching • Employee stock option plan • Eligible for financial incentives based on performance • Discounted and complimentary hotel accommodations anywhere in the world Qualifications Qualifications: • A minimum of 3-5 years of hotel event sales/event planning, completed Event Management trainee program or comparable experience preferred • Bachelor's degree and/or 3+ years of hotel and/or food & beverage experience preferred • Must be experienced in general computer knowledge and programs • Refined verbal and written communication skills • Present a professional appearance and confidence • Candidates should be extremely detail oriented, organized and be able to handle a fast paced environment • Strong time management & multi-tasking skills with the ability to work well under pressure • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to exceed standards and expectations • Experience in creative development of marketing concepts, custom proposals and promotional events to increase local event sales • Understanding of negotiation and interpretation of contracts • Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, banquets, accounting, restaurants and engineering • Knowledge of meeting room set-ups and capabilities, sleeping room configurations and types
