Position summary

The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative support to the Ithaca Campus Human Resources Department. They perform a variety of duties related to personnel functions and programs including but not limited to: recruitment, benefits, employee relations, maintenance of records, and general administrative tasks. Successful candidates will handle highly confidential material in the HR department and will serve as a first line in communications and customer service.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide high quality customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel information while reassuring internal customers
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Leads employee recruitment process for hourly workforce, including; pre-employment testing, interviews, job offers and follow-up
  • Assists with job postings, bids, layoffs and recalls
  • Creates and establishes systems that support existing processes with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Continuously integrates efficient ways of processing by eliminating non-value step
  • Ensure accurate data entry into multiple software programs and systems; and maintains files
  • Participates in other HR related activities and projects as assigned.
  • Ensures HR policies and practices are effectively communicated; ensures consistency in interpretation and application, and compliance with all applicable federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Assists in the interpretation and application of the terms of the collective bargaining agreement to ensure consistent administration.
  • Maintains and promotes effective employee relations with all levels of management and employees.

Education and experience

  • Bachelors or Associates degree preferred, coursework in human resources a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of administrative experience; prior experience in a manufacturing and/or HR preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Safety

This position will enforce to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires. This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. The professional must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers. In addition, the individual is trusted with reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
