Position Summary

Responsible for the performance of basic administrative duties that provide daily support in one or more areas of the human resource function.

Standard Duties :

50% Administrative

  • Support Human Resources department with day-to-day responsibilities in all aspects of the HR function;
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions;
  • Process hourly payroll weekly and assist with salaried payroll;
  • Process payroll adjustments weekly;
  • Manage leave of absences for hourly and salaried employees and code in time-keeping system for hourly employees;
  • Update and maintain monthly HR KPI data;
  • Assist in updates to HR policies/procedures, job descriptions as needed;
  • Create, process & analyze reports within HRIS system;
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of HR files and records and file documents into appropriate employee files;
  • Assist with teamwear program, security system software maintenance, badge issuance, and provide security footage as needed.
  • Coverage for the HR front desk in the absence of HR Administrator or as needed;
  • Support salaried training and development initiatives and tracking;
  • Escalate matters when necessary to appropriate personnel.

10% Communication, Employee Engagement, Vendor Relations

  • Assist in plant-wide employee communications and deliver through various outlets: TV monitors, BW app, emails, etc.
  • Assist with local media for ad space and partner with corporate to prepare ads/content per required guidelines;
  • Assist with yearly plant activities, charitable events, blood drives, wellness activities & seasonal events.
  • Assist with the application of the rewards and recognition program for all employees to increase engagement and employee satisfaction

15% Worker's Compensation Oversight and EHS Support

  • Oversee worker's compensation administration to include:
    • Claims monitoring and administration;
    • Report generation;
    • Maintain contact with injured workers, monitor the status of cases to determine return to work status, provide updates to area leaders and area managers with continuing disability status or work restrictions;
    • Communicate with department managers, area leaders, insurance carriers, medical staff and other parties, as needed;
    • Update timekeeping system with WC coding;
  • Assist in updates to EHS policies/procedures, JSAs and other EHS documentation as needed;
  • Assist in preparation of monthly EHS KPIs;
  • Assist in EHS LPA weekly communications and corrective action status updates;
  • Assist in coordination of annual hearing tests.

25% Recruitment Process

  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment and interview process for salaried and hourly recruiting to include: posting jobs, maintain fresh job posting advertisements on various media outlets, scheduling interviews, tracking candidate status in Workday and other recruiting platforms, job fairs, communicating with the candidates and outside recruiters, initiating drug and background screens and scheduling onboarding.
  • Submit PCNs for salaried and hourly positions;
  • Assist in the coordination and communication of salaried organizational announcements;
  • Perform checkpoints with new hires on 7-day, 14-day and 30-day intervals;
  • Assist in completing Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files;
  • Assist with new hire orientation;
  • Assist at job fairs.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working understanding of human resources principles, practices and procedures.
  • OSHA General Industry Recordkeeping
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (Workday)

Additional Information:

  • Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Associate Degree with equivalent experience required
  • 2 plus years of experience in Human Resources
  • 3 years payroll experience required
  • Experience with Kronos and SAP required
  • Proficient use of MS Office tools
